When Soft Voices Die…
When Soft Voices Die… is part family saga, part mystery, chronicling the story of one of the first Dutch families who settled on New Jersey farmland. On the edge of adulthood, a young man, whose parents both died when he was a child, is given letters written to him by his dead mother that contain surprises about his ancestry, an inherited fortune, and a mysterious half-sibling. When he begins the search for his lost brother, he finds more than he bargained for, including the key to understanding his parents' untimely deaths. The young man’s path takes him to New York City, Monterosso, Italy and back to his farm in New Jersey. The protagonist comes to understand the beauty and responsibilities of his farm, as he embraces the proud cultural traditions of the Lenni Lenape who were the original inhabitants. The title of the book comes from a poem by Percy Bysshe Shelley about the nature of memory and death.

About BROMME HAMPTON COLE
Bromme Hampton Cole was born in New Orleans but having lived on the island of Manhattan for many years, he is much more a peripatetic New Yorker than a son of the Big Easy. However, he is more Ernest Gaines than Joseph Mitchell. By night, Bromme is an incurable adventurer, loves red wine and is fascinated with shooting stars. By day, he is a nonprofit executive who believes how we provide for the underserved, the poor, the homeless and those with unique needs is the measure of our humanity.
